The US Post Office delivered a stunning surprise to the Chatham Emergency Squad last week. Enclosed with a letter from Susan Lenz, President of the Stanley Congregational Church, the Squad received a check for $10,000 in memory of Bill Cooper, longtime member of the church and a life member of the Chatham Emergency Squad.
The Church, which closed its doors in December 2019 following 152 years of dedicated service to the Chatham community, decided to distribute legacy contributions now rather than waiting for the finalization of the transfer of ownership of the Church building.
